The sky is blue, the grass tickles your toes, you feel the zomer in je bol.
Energy, stories, touch, and a hint of rosemary oil.
A hair salon is a space in which one shares stories. An archive of Hairytales. A safe space where you are free to gossip, talk about the weather, but also about politics, dilemmas and so on. Lay down and experience what happens when the hairdresser does everything but cut hair. Take off your shoes, drink a cup of tea and relax. Listen to other Hairytales and perhaps share one of your own.
For me the only way to one's soul is through the hair. And by creating an open yet intimate and safe space I hope I can give people an experience in which they feel comfortable enough to listen to other people’s Hairytales and maybe even share one of their own. How this work came about is mainly because of my desire for creating a comfortable and cozy space in which the guest can fully surrender, just like one surrenders when lying in the sink at the hairdressers.
So not only is hair something that grows on your head and you cut occasionally, but it’s so much more than that. Hair is about health, religion, culture, stereotypes, objectification, gender etcetera and I want to open up this conversation.
